Student Life Committee

The SAB established a Student Life Committee to address the need for activities in the college that foster community and visablity of the IAC student.
Current Activities:

  • Shadow Day, Recruiting event for admitted students. February 26th and March 10th, 2008.
  • IAC Phone Bank, Recruiting event. April TBA 2008

Recent Activities:

  • Established Student Volunteer Corp, IAC Undergraduates committed to helping with one recruiting or special event each year. (Fall 2007)
  • Freshman Social (Occurred September, 2006 and September 2007)
  • A Town Hall Meeting (Occurred November 8, 2006) See the article from theTechnique 11/17/06 (page 5).
  • Coordinated IAC Recruiting Phone Bank (Occurred April 2007)

Academic Affairs Committee


The SAB established a Academic Affairs Committee to look at curriculuar issues, study abroad programs, undergraduate research in the IAC from a student's perspective and see how we, as the SAB, can foster communication with Chairs, Faculty to address the needs of the IAC student.
Current Activities:
  • Meeting with all 6 IAC School's Undergraduate Coordinators to discuss results of survey and discuss importance of student participation in their undergraduate curriculum committees.
  • Coordinating awards for undergraduates at Up with White and Gold or in 2nd Annual Undergraduate Awards Ceremony.

Recent Activities:

  • Conducted Student Survey. This survey helped us assess the needs of the IAC students. Received statistically significant response %!
  • Creation of Spring 2007 Undergraduate Awards Ceremony for all IAC students (Occurred April 2007).

Communication Committee

The SAB established a Communications Committee to maintain the SAB website, create materials for SAB events and most importantly, to oversee the continued publishing of the SAB Link which published its first issue in Spring 2004.

Recently the committee select seven IAC students to serve as the staff of the Link. The new Link staff will be developing ideas and organizing during the Fall semester and will publish their first edition in Spring. Stay tuned.

The commitee is also currently working on updating the website and creating a permanent SAB logo and T-Shirts.

Recruitment Efforts

SAB is actively engaged with Ivan Allen College advisors in the recruitment of prospective students. Our activities include:

  • Created "Shadow Day"!
  • Hosting prospective students during campus visits
  • Sending emails and letters to prospective students
  • Running phone banks to answer questions to students that were accepted to Georgia Tech and trying to make their college choice.

FASET- Summer Orientations

Every summer the SAB works closely with the Advisors in the IAC to plan, participate and sponsor events during Freshman Orientation. All IAC students are invited to participate.

 

Networking Nights

The SAB has been assisting with the planning and execution of the annual Networking Nights event hosted by Career Services and IAC since 2004. Contact Elizabeth if you are interested in volunteering.
